I just bought a 2007 G M C 4x4 3500 72000 miles It is in immaculate condition, while checking it out at home after I bought it. there were two alternators under the hood I do not think this is stock but do know the man I got it from had pulled a fifth wheel with it. does anyone have any information about this model. My next move is to get either a bigfoot or dry bath northern lite.I may have to do some traveling to find either model because I live in north west Georgia. I would like to know if any one knows anything about the truck if it has a separate alternator just to charge the batteries in my next purchase the truck camper that would be great the reason I can not ask the man I bought it from the truck was sold after the fifth wheel and he left ij a motorhome right after I bought the truck he said he wanted to be free of everything that might tie him down. I will say the truck drives and looks new just have to take the fifth wheel rails off.

Yes, GM offered dual alternators as an option. I ordered and have the dual alternators option on my Chevy 6.6 Duramax truck and what a great real quick job they do in recharging my 7 big group 31 12V deepcycle 5th wheel batteries and the 2 diesel truck batteries also! A great option to have for RV'ing.

With dual alts, I'd suspect the PO had a dedicated charging circuit for his camper and if not, you can hook one up that will put some real charging power onto your camper batteries. The alternators are combined into your trucks charging system and I don't think you want to split them. Just leave the truck stock and get or use a heavy gauge charging lead to the camper.

Ford offers the dual alternator as well if you get the 'Ambulance' package.Just keep in mind that with both, when getting a replacement serpentine drive belt, you need to specify 'ambulance' which is a longer belt.

Mine has two alternators. It's a factory option.
