I have a three foot extension that a welder made that I use with my stock 2017 chevy 3500. I pull a 3500 pound boat with no problems. The receiver is rated for a tongue weight rating of like 2700 pounds and rated for towing 20000. I have towed thousands of miles on this rig and on my 2011 chevy 3500 with no problems without upgrading the receiver. Both where class 5 receivers. What is yours. I have a long bed and a 12 foot truck camper. If you google short bed campers for sale I am sure you will seem many. But the market is much more limited than for long beds.
