truck camper jacks

I am trying to install electrical jacks on my truck camper. I have purchased used unit (Atwood), which worked on the camper before I removed them. Is it possible to wire them direct?
  • Direct? You mean without the remote? You would need 4 switches, 1 for each jack. They would need to be capable of reversing the polarity to make the jack run up or down. This is pretty easy to do with a DPDT switch. They would need to be fairly heavy duty switches. I don't know what those motors pull when raising the camper but I'd bet it's close to 20 amps.
You would also want a "master" switch to raise or lower all 4 at the same time because trying to hold all 4 switches in the up or down position at the same time would get old fast.
Why not just use the remote control? It makes loading, unloading, and leveling super easy. Have you ever had a camper with electric jacks before? Not having the wireless remote takes away most of the advantage.
