When I hauled for a living we found drivers habits was the biggest issue with fuel consumption.
Some of our trucks/heavy trailers ran the same route/same loads different drivers. one to one and a half mpg difference is huge in this type work.
One driver using the same truck/trailer/load/same routes and reload routes always used more fuel than other drivers. He was the type that drove his personnel pickup on the gazz or on the brake.....no in between.
I wound't draw any conclusion at mpg figures from someone with the same combo I have.....simply too many variables.
