I had a dramatic lesson in speed vs. mileage, not on a truck or motorhome, but on a car. I had 2 tires with belt separation and had to wait a couple of days for new tires. If I drove over 55, the tires would shake and rattle and it was uncomfortable and dangerous, so I kept it to less than 55. My mileage (2006 Caddy with a 3.6 V6) went from 21 avg to 32 avg.
YMMV.
That is not dramatic.
Years ago driving car across the country I was bored driving on Nebraska I80 and did some tests when I was setting CC at certain speed.
Going from 28 to 49 mpg did not take much.
Mercedes diesel?
I'm surprised some of these diesel trucks don't do better. My 03 6.0 2500hd chevy gets around 10mpg with the tc loaded. 11ish in town empty and a 14's on the highway.
