I guess I drive like an old man since I think I get great mileage. 2006 F350 with 3250 lbs. in the back @ 62 mph 12.5-14mpg, empty at same speed 19-21 mpg. All highway speeds of course. At 70 mph empty she gets 15-17 mpg, but I don't drive that fast loaded.
I work for Idaho Transportation and see accidents almost everyday. Virtually all the camper wrecks could have been avoided if they had been more conservative with their speed. The fifth wheels seem to be the most destructive and crazy. There is an ever increasing trend these days of distracted drivers getting into trouble, i.e. texting. Robot cars might come along just in time to save more lives, if they can just get them figured out. Not that I would ever want one of course! Although I would appreciate a nap on the way to and from work...
