truck camper tie down

Hi,

I'd like to know if I use 3000 lbs (ratchet type) tie down belts with my camper, is it strong enough or legal on the road?

When I picked up my TC from a private sale I used 2000# straps for 350 miles. It held, yes! But was it safe, only because I did not have to do any extream maneuvers!
I got TorqLift tie-downs when I got home!
