I had some more variables since I was fitting a short bed 9' TC in a space that will eventually have a 12' long bed TC. My 8' wide Arctic Fox has sub wings since the the floor sits wider over the top of pickup wheel wells - The new 8.5' wide model will have the floor starting over the bed rails most likely without these sub wings.
I could have spent over twice as much for less efficient use of space to make the load area more universal and still get the same look, however I would have shorted myself in compartment depth or width to accomplish this. I don't want to lock myself into a TC model or manufacturer because the tolerances are too tight for an upgrade without having to make utility bed modifications.
I think if I was putting together a truck/TC combination that was not going to change anytime soon, I might have been more willing to spend more knowing I would not have modification cost later...
