What harnesses are you all using?
A problem we've run into is our cat has mastered getting herself loose of them, no matter how well we fasten her into it.
Our two cats need different harness types. Kahlua is such a small, skinny thing that the only harness that works on her is one called a "figure-eight". Like this:
Figure-Eight Harness These are very simple harnesses, and are easy to put on. Just open the neck hole nice and big, slip it over her head, wrap the long end under her chest behind the legs, and buckle it over her right shoulder.
When Selina was smaller, we used the same type harness on her, but I could tell it just wasn't working as well on her. Now that she's a big honkin' 10 lb cat, we've been using a different type that has a non-adjustable neck. Like this:
Mesh HarnessThis one is a little harder to put on because the neck hole is just big enough to go over her head. I like it though because there's only one buckle to snap, like the figure-eight. The chest strap is adjustable, and can be made pretty snug. Selina can get out of it though, so you have to stay alert to what she's doing. If she starts pulling against it and backing up, you have to give her some slack or she'll back right out of it. She does pretty good walking with us wearing it.
