Truck goes in Thursday to fix a "phantom" trailer situation.

My truck recognizes a trailer is connected when the umbilical cord from the trailer is plugged into the truck.

Unfortunately, right now, it's getting a phantom signal that a trailer is hooked up, and it's adding miles to that phantom trailer.

What would cause this? Something in the truck's receptacle? Computer bug?
