Since you already have the upper overload springs that are part of the camper package, plan on using devices that will engage them sooner so the truck does not have to sag 3" before engagement. If you still need more support, add devices to the lower overload spring to do the same. These device can be built by you or purchased from companies like Torklift. I doubt you will need airbags unless you tow heavy or your camper is heavier on one side requiring some form of equalization to level left to right.

engage sooner to help.. ok I get it. I have a 30 foot camper I pull now hitch weight of 834 pounds about and it barely starts to touch that main overload.

Back axle on my truck is a V-469k and according to Ford fleet its a common 350/450/550 axle used on some model F250's and from the research I have done LL is my leafspring numbers so 6000 pound leafspring set is on the truck already.

I did promise earlier today that I would climb under the truck heres the proof lol

I can go to DMV and register my truck, LEGALLY, for a weight higher than what the door sticker says. As long as I'm within my registered weight, then I won't get an overweight ticket.

No state I know will allow you to register a pick up higher then the GVWR on the door tag. You can register at a lower to save money on states that charge by GVW of vehicle.

If you can modify and prove an increase in GVWR and get your door tag changed, and registration I would like to see that...

Although your 28-spline 10-bolt can handle some horsepower if it is properly beefed up, the semi floating axle is best for cars rather than trucks that carry a load. This axle was used in a poorly outfitted GM 3/4t at one time, but I doubt anyone would praising its capacities. Your second generation S10 has other limitations than just running an automotive axle.

Those stickers are a manufacturer rating, not a legal registered weight rating.

That last statment might hold some water, but if the owner has made improvements correctly then springs won't break. I feel sorry for people who have a hypersensitive nature to liability. Must be tough being worried all the time. It is possible for someone to use a common sense approach and know what his axle is capable of, and upgrade the other weak links be it tires, wheels, or suspension; and still be safe.

If I walk outside in a rainstorm, I might get hit by lightning. But I don't worry about it because I stand a better chance of winning the lottery and I buy about 1 ticket every other year....

A tornado might hit my house in the night when I'm sleeping and kill me, but I don't worry about that either...

I do worry about hurting someone by my bad choices.. Thus that's why im on here and surfing the web educating myself so when the time comes it makes sense and I wont have issues.
