Thanks everyone.
I will be using my "cash price, out the door" technique that I used a hear or so ago with my wife's CRV.
I had figured out my 'out the door' price with the trucks I tried to buy (gas and diesels) and translated it into a bi-weekly payment, figuring that using the factory financing would be easier than the bank......WRONG. Fell into their trap...sigh.
That's why I've hit the reset button and will go in as a cash buyer....they will never know what my monthly payment will be.
Another funny story at a dealer:
Me: If you will make that sticker number the out the door price I will sign the papers right now ($50,250)
Him: Are you kidding? We'd be losing our shirts on that....thats only a $35000 truck for us then.
Me: Where did you get that number from?
Him: Well, $35 plus taxes comes out to the sticker number
Me: Ummm....taxes are 12% right?.
Him: Yup
Me: Well, I just offered you a few dollars just shy of $45K for that truck then.
Him: (playing with computer) Ummm...anyways, we'd just assume send it to auction before selling it for that.
Me: Really! You seriously think you will get more than $45K for that truck at auction???
Him: (looking away) (silence)
Me: OK. If by chance that number ever works for you...maybe it won't be today, but who knows, right? You have my number.
Off I went.
Firming things up with the bank in the next few days....bank guy decides to take some holidays while I'm trying to buy a truck....geesh ;)
Then I'll hit the ground running.
ib516.....which dealership did you use in Calgary? Thinking of broadening my search
