I guess I don't understand the camper issue. When I registered my 05 Dodge Cummins in California I was charged over $500 because it weighed 160 Lbs over the 7000 lbs. limit for non-commercial registration. I didn't realize until after the fact that had I removed the shell I could have non-commercial plates.
