Trying to decide.

I am trying to decide between a 2014 coachmen Catalina 273bds and a 2015 kz 250bhs. The price would be about 400 dollar difference out the door. Any help would be much appreciated.
  • Coachman all the way.. Better unit. Its slung lower and will tow better IMO.

I like the aluminum siding, and thats all I would buy. Not a fan of the vacuum bonded walls.

Coachman is more classy to me. KZ looks cheap.

Very nice interior in the coachman. The KZ looks to have that crappy fake pleather seats..

Yes you want a couch..Why wouldnt you?

My rubber roof is 11 years old. Take care of it and it will take care of you....

KZ has fiberglass walls. also probably a TPO roof, not rubber.

Bumpy what's the difference or better about what you said.

Wmoses. What better in a similar price.

fiberglass siding is generally upscale from aluminum and holds up better in a hail storm.
if one has a rubber roof, I wouldn't buy it myself.

You speak of rubber roofs. I've always thought the term "rubber roof" was just used as a general way of describing TPO, EPDM or anything else that was rubbery. What is a rubber roof and what is the difference between that and TPO?

rubber roofs are EPDM, TPO is not a rubber one. do a search for issues with rubber roofs. their care, repair, upkeep, etc. of course a fiberglass roof is preferable IMHO.

  • Have owned both a Catalina and a KZ. If I were you, I would look very closely at the frame on each. I think you will find the Coachmen has a better frame. We had significant brake problems on our Catalina that took a year to get fixed properly and required a complete rebuild. I think you will find the overall build quality above the frame to be somewhat better on the KZ.
  • One of the people in our group had a KZ. From what I ssaw on the KZ, I would'nt buy one. Lots of flex and leaks.

Where have you already looked? What are your criteria? What is your TV capacity? What is the price range? Old or new? Lots of floorplans and choices out there.
  • I have pretty much looked all around my current area of Central Florida. I am trying to stay in the low teens to low 20's. I want something with a queen or larger bed and bunks. An outdoor kitchen would also be nice. The too I located are the nicest/cheapest I have found with my wants/price range.

I dont care if it old or new.

    I have a 2011 F150 Ecoboost with a towing cap of 9800
  • If for no other reason, I'd say that sofa is the deciding factor with all other things being pretty much equal.
