Personally, I think the looks of the new 4 runners or the Durangos are hard to beat. Can't comment on the frugality of either.
I think you an't go wrong with the Dodge drivetrain. I've had 2 different SRT Chargers that have been pretty bulletproof so far. 06 (not comparable to the new Durangos) 140k miles and only major repairs have been a radiator and radiator fans and front struts. Front end is needing some work now but soild car IMO.
New car has the same 8HP ZF built trans as the Durango and it's a great trans and has proven to be a solid performer for years now.
