To a Floridian, they might look like mountains, but to you and me, not really. I'm used to roads over mountain passes topping out at 11,000 to 12,000 feet. We have to deal not only with the grades, but with the scarcity of oxygen for our TV's. the highest peak (not pass) east of the Mississippi is in North Carolina and that's just a bit more than 6600 feet.
That said, the Blue Ridge Parkway certainly has some nice ups and downs and twists and turns. Probably plenty for someone from the flats of Florida.
