TT vs 5th wheel

I could not locate this with a search...
We (wife and I) are on a 1 1/2 year plan to start 4 months RVing December thru March and then 8 months home working. Then in 3-4 years full time RVing with some work-camping. We have were leaning toward a used MH until pricing ones I can fit in (I'm 6'8"). Then started looking toward used 5th wheels and used tow vehicle. Lately, realizing a TT might be cheaper than a 5th wheel. However, it's been hard to locate a used TT with enough height.

Any thoughts on TT vs 5th wheel?

Suggestions on TT interior height.

Thoughts on the need for a 4-Season insulation package?
  • Jayco eagle tt have seven foot high interior ceilings plus well insulated. I dont like all the steps in 5th wheels, hitch taking up the truck bed where i like to store things and the 5's excessively high frontal area when towing.
  • In all the years and number of RVs we've had, I've yet to find a perfect one. We went from a TT to 5er 2 years ago. Im 6'2" and if I was 6'8" like you would only consider 5er due to the interior height. My wife who is 5'3" loves the height in ours since it makes it feel more like a home. That being said you can't beat the storage space in a 5er. Instead of having to load things in the back of a truck, most is left in the basement storage (ours is a 33' rear kitchen). Good luck in your search.
  • 4-Season insulation package is really a 3 season insulation package. There are very few RVs that are true 4 season units. Maybe only 3 or 4. The "Arctic" package or whatever they want to call it usually amounts to minimal added insulation, tank heaters and a decal next to the door. Most of them are still barely adequate in temps below freezing.
