Our last two trailers from 1997 to the present have had front windows with a shutter or "rock guard". We have never had a leak problem and really appreciate the ability to sit inside and look out the front of the trailer and the ability to capture some of the breeze during the day. The earlier trailer was a front living room and our present one is a front kitchen.
Now if the window was in a front BEDROOM then my opinion might be different. We have a rear bedroom with a window in the rear cap but no shutter or "rock guard" over it. It is a simple two pane Jalousie type window. It has never leaked at all but I must say we very seldom open it and the day/night shade is usually pulled down. We could very well do without a rear window.
