I'm planning to get a truck to tow a 30 ft travel trailer. I'm choosing between Toyota Tundra vs ram 3500.
I know ram has more power however I'm also looking in the future. I know toyotas are known to run forever but not sure about ram. I don't want that at 150,000 miles later on the ram would cost me a lot on repairs.
So is ram known to last long like Toyota? I'm asking coz I'm not well acquainted with ram as well as ford trucks if they really last long.
Is the tundra then a bettER choice?
I towed my Denali 270FK with a dry weight of 7600+ pounds. The major complaint was with the smaller engine option the 08 Tundra was anemic on power. My travel weight had the Tundra/TT at the max GVW and running a lot of 4th gear on the flat and unable to maintain 55+ in the continuous head winds of the midwest.
IMHO the Ram 3500 would be the best combo of the two. The only way I would consider the Tundra would be if your tows are short, less than 500 miles or be certain and purchase the 5.7L engine combo.
