Rent a 3/4 ton truck twice a year. That will be better for your truck and you can save the cost of a WDH to pay for the truck rentals.
Never would I recommend that combination for recreational towing. For your proposed short and infrequent trips, your truck will likely not have much excessive wear because of it. The rear suspension will cry without a WDH.
