tune up chevy 6.0

I have an 06 Chevy Silverado with a 6.0. It has 102000 miles on it so I was getting ready to change the plugs. I figured plugs and wires but I was wondering anyhting else needs changing on the new fangeled engines?

  • I'm currently in diesel so I'm going from old memory but I agree with the O2 sensor(s). My last gassers started getting terrible MPGs and had no power and a new O2 sensor made a big difference.

This is good advice, I chased a "weird" gremlin with my dealer for a while where my truck was running lean only while towing and would toss a check engine light. Problem was by the time I made it to the dealer the light cleared. Finally was able to capture it and it was one of my 02 sensors. Went from about 12 mpg on the highway to around 14 mpg.

I'm coming up on 90,000 miles, have always taken my truck in for it's work but for the plugs i'm debating on doing it myself. Lemme know how it goes!

I also followed the dealer's recommendation which was front / rear differential fluids as well as injection cleaner. More piece of mind than anything else, but it was listed as needing to be done.
