The Wineguard antenna may be the best of the common RV offerings. I don't know as I can't find any testing data on them. Even Wineguard says that the wing accessory is necessary for digital UHF reception. Based on the graph in the Operator's Manual
It sounds like the OP has a connection problem or may be parking in a spot with bad reception. I'd guess the connections are the issue.
