Another newby question .... Our new camper has a spot marked on the wall that indicates where to mount a TV. The TV weighs 12 pounds. Is a standard wall mount like I'd use in my home adequate? ...

Usually they've placed some back boards behind that marking. Use lag screws and you'll know if you're hitting studs or backer boards. Don't mount it to the luan alone or it will certainly fall off.
On my TV mounts, I installed a drawer pull behind the TV on the wall and I use long strips of stretchy velcro to secure the TV to the wall while traveling. This keeps the darn thing from swinging all over while towing. You can buy the strapping in the hardware section at Lowes.
