Recommended PSI on the door is for the OEM tire and assuming the truck is loaded. If you can get ahold of an inflation chart you can air down and that will make a difference. Inflation charts can be hard to come by so some folks use the 'chalk test'. 
When I am not loaded I run the back tires about 10 PSI less than the recommended which is about as low as I can go before the TPMS complains. If it were not for the TPMS I would be running them around 45 which is still good for 4020 on the axle.
