You will not be happy with the 5.3 liter. It does not have enough torque to tow effectively. Hills and mountains will become a significant challenge as well a good head wind. I have towed an equivalent TT in the past using a Suburban with a 5.3 liter 4 speed with tow/haul all over the U. S. and I vowed to get a vehicle with a larger engine. My current tow vehicle is a Silverado 1 ton dually with a 6.5 liter diesel and an Allison six speed tranny. It tows in all terrain and weather as though the TT is not there. I suggest you REALLY consider the 6.0 liter gas with 360 foot pounds of torque or a 6.5 liter diesel with 650 foot pounds of torque.
