Two Air Conditioners

Just traded in a 33 foot travel trailer with one 15000 air conditioner for a 37.8 foot travel trailer with two ducted air conditioners. The living room ac is 15000 and the bedroom / bathroom ac is 13500. Our old trailer had trouble keeping up on hot days without shade. What kind of comfort level can I expect this summer, in Texas, without shade with my new trailer. I'm not sure what the insulation is on the roof, but the walls are R7. And I have three slides.

You SHOULD be very, very happy ! ! ! ! Going from 1 to 2 is awesome
  • In the sun?

Depends on the ambient outside temperature .......probably 15-20 cooler than outside.
  • Lived in a 35 footer with 50 amp, two air conditioners for over a year in San Antonio. Quite a few days in the summer were 100+ and the main air conditioner DID NOT run constantly and the bedroom one only came on periodically. That being said, try to put the refer section in some shade...especially if it is in a slide out.
  • Our 34’ 5er with two A/Cs (15 & 13.5) stayed cool at Palo Duro Canyon SP with temp at 105 and no shade. And we did not run the 13.5 all the time, and never at night.
  • It will do just fine. Just make sure you are plugged into 50amp to run both of them at the same time and enjoy. We have two on our AS and it keeps it nice and cool.
  • how ironic

we went from a 33ft TT to a 37 foot 3 slide TT last fall also

what models did you trade in and currently own?

our 37ft has only 1 15btu, and is prepped for a bedroom unit if we wanted to add.

the one ac can keep things about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than outside if in full sun. shade helps.

we are 50 amp but stay at alot of state parks with only 30amp available so i dont plan on adding 2nd unit.

you should be good to go with 2.
  • We got a 35ft Class A with two slides last year. We installed new 15,000 up front and 13,500 in the rear. They they do pretty good keeping it cool. We do place reflective material in the front windshield as it acts like a huge oven if there is not any shade.

We traded in our Kodiak 285BHSL for a Venture Sporttrek Touring 336VRK. Our Kodiak could not keep up in the Texas heat.
