As a side note, I believe my brother-in-law was born during the 1927 Flood. His folks were from Ferriday in Concordia Parish in eastern Louisiana, but because of the flood, he was born in Mississippi. His mother called him, "My Mississippi Man".
Ferriday was were he grew up. Cousin to the rock and roll artist Jerry Lee Lewis and TV evangelist Jimmy Swaggart, and brother-in-law to two of country music singer Mickey Gilley's brothers. All from Ferriday.
