Tyron Tire Bands

Has anyone installed the Tyron bands on their TT tires? I have a new TT and I paid the extra $$ during financing for them. They came out to my house the next week and installed them. Very expensive, I think around $1,500 but I suppose I paid for the peace of mind. I am very curious if anyone has ever had the unfortunate experience of seeing them in action?
