When I had my 2012 GMC 3500 short bed I installed a Titan 57 gallon replacement tank. Had it for 3 years and not one problem. I installed it myself and no one ever asked when I took the truck into the dealer for service.

I did the same thing with the new truck except the tank is a 60 gallon capacity. On our trip to Colorado last year I drove 550 miles without stopping for fuel. I only had 7 gallons left when I got to the overnight stop and probably won't do that again but I was trying to show our traveling friends with their motorhome and huge fuel tank that I could go just as far as them. I do like the ability to get to most of our overnight stops without having to refuel while hooked up. Unhooked I can find the best price and not worry about getting in and out.

No codes... Flawless.
Had mine installed by the dealer- you will kick yourself for not doing it sooner.

Talk to Jakob at Aero Tank in San Bernardino, CA. I had their 52 gal
replacement tank installed a year ago in my 2015 RAM 3500.

Look at T-flow again. See they have a midship replacement tank (57 gallon...part # 0800115309) for $1149.00 that should be for your truck.

Well I guess that my only other option is an in bed auxiliary tank any one have any expirences with these hooking them into the existing fuel system degree of difficulty any problems associated with it filling the main tank under the truck suggestions will be helpful..thanks

I have a short box 4x4 and switched out the factory tank to a 50 gal Transferflow one. Like AP said, get fuel as low as possible in stock tank, disconnect everything per instructions, install new tank per instructions. Given everything that's under the truck, don't see where there is room for a 2nd fuel tank--just replace stock tank w/ aftermarket (Transferflow or Titan). T-flow tanks are made of metal and Titans are plastic. Titan probly easier to handle.

As for dealer issues or codes,w/ aftermarket tank, NO. T-flow gives you a new float for sending unit so gauge reads right, but the distance to empty will not work.Have noticed the trucks computer for fuel used/mpgs is spot on w/ the T-flow tank (same as w/ stock one).

Then the Titan 55 gal tank will fit w/o changing anything else. Just drop the factory tank, move the hardware over to the Titan tank and install it. But good idea to run the original tank as low as possible w/o running dry, then add fuel to the new tank and purge air before starting the diesel.

I do have the 8 foot bed. I am not able to look under my truck just yet as I am in the hospital until Monday or Tuesday but will crawl under and see what I can find. I just really love my big tool box and would like to keep it but if I can't find what I like then I guess a new in bed tank and tool box combo might be the answer. We installed a Titan tank replacement for our Ram 3500. Works great and does not have anything to do with the DEF. Our truck does have an 8 ft bed though.
