Under Trailer Spare Tire Bracket

I recently move my spare tire from the rear bumper to under the front of the trailer because it was in the way of the bike rack and travel tray. I used unistrut which I purchased at home depot in the electrical section. I had to keep the unistrut close together as possible so there would be room to get the tire on the rack. I think most trailers have the room under the front to accomplish this.

  • And it is a great solution no one is implying anything different
Just seein what MIGHT be a problem in a worst case situation .
    Thanks for sharing :)
  • It is easy to remove the tire from the bracket. All I have to do is remove the 2 nuts from the threaded rod u bolt that goes through the rim and slide it off to the side and it drops down. I made the u bolt that goes through the tire rim out of 1/4" threaded rod and I bent it to my specifications. Keeping the tire on the rear bumper was not an option. It was taking up valuable real estate. I could not find anyone that made a bracket for my situation. I understand it will be a little inconvenient getting at the tire when I have to. I am very happy with my solution.
  • smear some water proof grease on those threads. might even put some plastic wrap around them, but looks like a good job. hope you never have to use it.
  • Keep an eye on those bolts they don't look plated and if they rust will cause plenty of aggravation on the side of the road in the rain-in the dark(when MY flats always happen :( )
  • Looks good but also looks like a PITA to get the tire out. Especially on the side of the road, in the rain. Which, as you know, is when most flats happen.
