I wear outside rear tires faster too, so they get rotated amongst the rear axle.
I think it’s from driving on highways with ruts from cars with studded tires. The inner wheels ride over the ruts. Outsides take all the load.
Your logic is off some. The tire with most load has best traction. The weight will cause more wear because tread is compacting and expanding as it contacts pavement. But the real wear happens as the tire that is less solid on pavement slips.

I’ll try to answer all questions. The pressure is consistent over all the tires. These are the OE tire since the truck was new so they are consistent with the DOT dates. I do not drive the truck much on a daily basis, mostly towing the RV. I have noticed this inconsistent wear for a few years so I don’t believe it’s the age. I don’t want to throw a new tire at it if there is a known issue that I can resolve before changing the tires as another poster suggested.
After I wore tread off a tire way to fast I started to measure tires before I put into dual service. Have seen half inch difference same size and brand. Running side by each that smaller tire would slip that half inch every revolution. And as that slip causes wear, the tire slips more, wears faster.
