*Update* Arctic Fox bunk problem

All, noticed on our '13 AF 811 that the insert that goes into the bunk when folded down and in use tends to slide a little toward the window, allowing it to fall off of the lip on the bunk. The only thing different between my '09 811 is the slide window is a larger picture frame style which is nice, but the older style window had a metal frame through the middle splitting the fixed portion with the lower portion which cranked out. This allowed the instert to rest along this metal track keeping it tight the the side of the bunk..wondering if anyone else has experienced this..Wondering also if the new window with the bunk combo is too new to have any complaints, and hasent got any exposure yet..Thoughts?

Sent a few pix to Northwood and briefly describe what i had going on, without hesitation they are shipping me an entire bunk assembly free of charge..Very impressive!

  • They are always helpful when I have dealt with them.

I think it comes from the fact that it's a family run business, in a small to mid sized town, and not some huge mega-corporation.

  • Have the same issue with our 2011 AF 1150. Solution was to take the insert and put a solid 1*4 piece of wood on the bottom of it with screws. The problem is the hinge keeps getting looser and looser and once it moves (daughter turns over in the night) over a hair it drops. The solid piece of 1*4 under the insert makes the whole thing one solid unit. So now even if it moves over it will not drop the middle. The other option is to create new insert with 3/4'' plywood and foam.

Downside is it will not fold up anymore for storage. So we just keep it under our bed for traveling now.
  • My guess is that this issue has not been experienced yet since you are dealing with a new TC with a new window design. Its probably one of those minor problems that slipped by the factory and will not be addressed until they get some feedback from owners. Over the past 3 years Ive seen Northwood confront and address several issues that were brought to their attention by owners so Im sure they will find a solution to this one in time. It might be a good idea to call and let the factory know what you are experiencing. They might have a fix or suggestion for it already.
