WE Just got home from an 800 mile trip and I am happy,happy,happy. We towed in tow haul locking out 6th gear and got 9 mpg on the way there and 9.5 mpg on the way home. Set the cruise at 65 and let it run. What a nice experience. Passing situations where extra power is needed NO problem. No I would not go any bigger than what we currently have! For our needs this worked great.

I am sure we are under all weights we were border line with an 04 F150 max tow haul also. There is also just the DW and I which cuts down on all numbers. The sticker in the truck states a payload of 1972, we have the max tow haul 4x4 also, and yes we are happy,happy,happy! Of the 15000 miles a year 2500 will be towing the rest are daily driving.

Agree, Agree, Agree. We tow in 5th, tow/haul with similar results. 10 mpg but lighter TT, 5300 dry. Effortless towing, stays at speed and shifts to 4th only on hills of consequence. This is the little engine that can and does. It's actually fun to drive.

Great report. DW & I are fixing to head out on our annual 4500 mile trip with our 13' Eco F-150 4x4, screw, HD. Have been on 3 short shake down trips of bout 175-180 miles. All three went from 5500 ft to close to 8000 ft and back down. 1st trip (8% climb last 10 miles) 8.6 mpg going up & 9.8 coming home. 2nd & 3rd trips were identical (was a gradual climb but same elevation). 2nd trip mpg was 9.2 up & back home 10.6 & 3rd trip going up was 10.6 & coming home was 11.4. So as we're putting more miles on truck it's getting better mileage. :B Like you I run no faster than 65 with tow/haul on & lock out 6th & kick cruise of when we go up a semi major hill. Trailer axle weight is 7600 lbs. Truck pulls the TT effortlessly, no sway or porpoising. Please keep us up dated on your mileage.Milo

We don't put much in the bed. We used to bring firewood but new laws mean no more transporting firewood, so the truck bed will likely be empty.

I have a 2013 echo screw max tow HD payload with 7500 total miles and 1800 towing miles on my truck and have been getting about the same mileage as reported. I do not lock out the 6 gear and run with cruise on most of the time set at 60 to 65 mph.
Best thing I like is the way it will downshift when driving on hilly roads when using tow haul. Just took a trip last week on Ohio Mohican country roads full of hills and curves and don’t remember if I had to touch the brakes other than at stop signs.

Update - got the truck last week!

Mileage so far confirms what posters have said - high of 18.2 mpg on the highway so far and a low of 15.6 in town. Averaging around 17.

I love the truck so far!!! Very quiet and comfortable.

60MPH = 22+mpg
65MPH = 20-21

Worst non-towing tank has been 17 but I don't drive in the city or over 65 very often. Best was 24.5MPG over 70 miles of rolling hills, 50-60 MPH and no change in elevation, premium non-ethanol.
