I do not recommend buying at an RV show. People tend to pay more than those that do more research. I have never seen RV show prices advertised lower than the so called wholesale RV dealers in the midwest for example. Use RV shows to compare floorplans that you like and brands that you like.
I agree.
I use the shows to see the floorplans available but then rely on the Internet to research the best prices. Yes there could be deep discounts at a show, but you first have to be aware of the market value of the unit to know if the discount is a good one. As result I take a tablet with me with Internet connection so that I can do a quick check on site if needed.
Then, as someone else mentioned, there are the multitudes that traipse through the unit, often pulling this and poking that sometimes breaking stuff. Many of the people are not familiar with RVs but are "curious" so they don't necessarily know how to handle or treat the equipment. Then, we all know how competent dealers are at fixing stuff and how painful warranty repairs can be, so you don't really want to buy a "used-new" trailer.
OP - welcome to the forum and thanks for the nice introduction. Good luck in whatever you decide to do, but for my money I would not buy at an RV show.
