If we take FireGuard's example:
1. The Jeep Rubicon weighs 4.5-5k lbs
2. The Reese RP45018 48" extension is rated for 4k/400 lbs WC and 6k/600 lbs WD
3. The Reese 45299 receiver is rated for 18k/2k lbs WC and 18k/2.5k lbs WD
What I see is the extension has no problem with a flat tow bar and the weight of the Jeep. What I do not see is any receiver rating with extension. Is this like using a 12K lb 2-5/8" ball on a Class 2 receiver and expect the receiver to handle the capacity of the ball or is there some other lowest common denominator reducing the rating? Although the Class V Titan has impressive capacities at the receiver, there is no derate chart when running extensions. Do you believe that the extension is the weakest link? yo don't know because Reese does not publish a rating chart for extensions when used with this receiver.
