When I bought the Superhitch setup I wanted to have the truck setup for any senario I may end up with. In 2005 when this was installed , Superhitch was pretty much the strongest production type hitch (non custom) out there to my knowledge and was designed for truck camper mounts so I went with it. Buy it right and buy it once. I had never planned to flat tow when this was installed but 10yrs later I do, who knows what the next 10 yrs hold but I do know I'm setup properly to meet the trucks maximum capacities. I have towed a job trailer and a pretty heavy cuddy cabin boat prior to flat towing and all situations worked well. One thing I did learn with flat towing is the side to side loading is significant, I learned this the hard way because I was using a 2 cheap open hook fast buckles for convienence for the side chain connections and one of them bent open the first time pulling out of my driveway. Big mistake using open hook, I got rid of them and never had another issue.
