We have a small dirt devil that we take on local camping trips and a much heavier duty Hoover for LONG trips where the carpets get REALLY dirty. The Devil is easier to manhandle but nothing sucks dirt like a full sized upright :)
I tried the dirt devil, with 20 feet of cord, it seems, and it just doesn't really lift the dirt and rocks out that get trapped in the crevasses of the soles of my shoes/boots and released inside on the floor. So yeah, stand up model it is. Cleaning up and camping in a RV is a never ending chore, it seems, it's dirty business. It's so dirty, I shower and clean up before going to bed, to keep the sheets clean on my bed, and just use the wash basin and wash cloth in the morning to wipe the sleep off my face.
