US car in top 5 reliability in a long time, it wasn't Ram

Surprising article in Automotive News reports Buick in the number 3 spot. I think the first time ever for a US nameplate. Bottom 5 with best of the worst first were Tesla and then all 4 FCA brands with Ram the least reliable of all vehicles. Even Fiat scored better than Ram.
I drive a Dodge/Ram so don't attack me, just reporting the facts.

  • I think of these reports a lot like consumer reports and their ilk. I do agree with Lexus as my wife's 2001 has been a tank, and I can't get her to sell it. All around cars are getting better, but you have to research the individual models versus just a brand name.

Apples to oranges. The Automotive News article reference Consumer Report's annual survey, which covers cars built from 2000-2016, while the JD Power survey is significantly narrower, covering problems reported in the last twelve months by original owners of three year old vehicles, i.e. 2013 models.
  • Been a long time since these list meant anything - the difference between first and last is always infinitesimal .
  • Totally meaningless dribble regardless of which brand is touted as the best or worst. All that matters is how the one you have performs for you.

Post like this one or about about any brand serve no purpose other than just stirrin' the pot.

    x2 stir the pot:

Cabin fever starting early for some folks I guess?

When I looked at it 2-3 years ago Lincoln was #2.

And I doubt most of those "CARS" even have a tow rating or used by the masses for a tow vehicle.
  • My son works for a national used car dealer as a buyer. He agrees with where Ram is on the list.
