Whether it's allowed or not will depend on the municipality or whoever sends you your sewer bill. In my case, I thought it better not to ask. If someone doesn't like it I'll stop. I dumped at home for the first time last week and it was so liberating! No more driving 10 miles to the closest campground and paying $20 to dump.
Unfortunately what I thought was a sewer cleanout in my yard was actually a cleanout for a drywell that collects rainwater from my gutters. Make sure what you're looking at is your sanitary sewer clean-out. The real clean-out is about half-way down my very steep driveway in a spot where I wouldn't be able to dump because of the slope. Long story short I bought Valterra's Sewer Solution and plumbed it into the sewer line in my basement. Like everyone else said - when you flush in your house it goes racing past that clean out and to the same place. Whether you dump there or in the house doesn't matter.
