As far as exhaust extensions go,motorhome owners use them alot for directing the exhaust away or over the top of the coach,infact there quite popular..
They don't seem to worried about it, but here is a clip I picked up online..
Included in the goodie bag distributed at the WMHA-Indio rally was a new booklet put out by the newly renamed Cummins Onan. The Cummins Onan RV Generator Handbook goes right after exhaust extensions by placing on Page 2 the "Statement Regarding Exhaust Pipe Extensions". It says that Cummins Onan "does not endorse the use of RV generator exhaust pipe extensions". it states that Cummins Onan "has been unable to this date to identify any commercially available exhaust extension kit which meets reasonable standards for safely handling exhaust gases".
So Onan says don't endorse them but motorhome users say it is the best thing since sliced bread.LOL..
So here we go,someone ask about running a honda 2K in an existing compartment for a Onan gen set..A fair question in my opinion as the Onan's that are in TC's don't appear by eye sight to have a muffler system..Never owned one so I can't say for sure..So why could a Honda 2K not be used in the same manner..Again,good question..
My gut feeling is to ad an extension to force the exhaust away from the TC, if I were to do it in the provided Gen compartment.Just an idea for the op to consider was all it was...
We all have different idea's on how to do this or do that, some based on actual experience and others not...So asking a question on an internet forum is going to get answers all over the board and most without having done, the question asked,that's where the op has to take in all the ideas and make his or her own decision.
