..So here we go,someone ask about running a honda 2K in an existing compartment for a Onan gen set..A fair question in my opinion as the Onan's that are in TC's don't appear by eye sight to have a muffler system..Never owned one so I can't say for sure..So why could a Honda 2K not be used in the same manner
Let me point it again.
Onan has exhaust pipe design for extension Honda does not.
Onan runs on propane where "safe" fumes entering on occasion TC are not immediate danger. Honda fumes will poison you in just minutes.
Comparing to motorhomes is not fair neither. Most of them have generators over 20 ft from the door. That is never going to happen on TC.
Than most motorhomes extensions are Venturi-type, what is not creating backpressure.
8' small pipe on small diameter bushing with Honda will create backpressure.
For me it is :h
How many things you want to ignore for questionable convenience?
Honda 2000 will never have remote start, so you will have to get out and pull the cord no matter what.
I have my Honda 3000 mounted on front hitch. It starts on 1st pull 90% of time, so beside 2 seconds to start it, I need about 15 seconds to pull the cord and plug it.
All safe, legal and solid.
In 12 years of owning Honda3000 I never bother to fit battery for electric start. With single pull start, why create additional hassle? The old generator compartment is perfect for gas cans and BBQ.
