Used M 6601

I am looking at a 2010 Palimino Maverick 6601 to put on my stock 2002 Silverado CC 1500 HD 4x4. It is priced at $9,000 and is 500 miles away.

A few questions:

I am familiar with the Palimino construction, knowing there are better made campers, but is there anything specifically I should check out? Known weak spots?

I also know I will need some upgrades to haul the unit, but do you think I can ease it home dry?

It does not have steps, which steps do you recommend?

    The shipping weight of a new 6601 is 1771lbs. They don't get any lighter as the years go by so the shipping weight on a 2010 is probably a few pounds less.

    You have the "HD" model with the 8-bolt hubs, right? It has a 6084lb rear GAWR.

    If it can't handle that camper dry something is very very wrong. Unless of course you're bringing your triplet 250lb teenage linebacker sons along when you go to pick it up.
