@Dream Girl Awesome tips. I bought these items:
Leveling blocks4 wheel chocksI'm used to loading a utility trailer for years with ATVs and dirt bikes and gear, so I'm thinking the same loading principles should apply? I'm not too worried about fuel efficiency since our beast of a Jeep (TJ with the 4 liter inline 6 cylinder AMC engine) already sucks at that (18 liters per 100 km) on a normal day when empty lol... :( We are looking at getting a new car though (our 2002 Civic is finally dying and we don't want to use the Jeep to pull the trailer) and we're looking at a diesel SUV.
You sound a lot like me about setting up camp. I hate setting up camp after sunset. I'm usually out the door around 7 am on my way to the campground. I like to maximize my time camping. If I can't be there around 3 pm latest I make sure I leave the next day. I hate evening setups. They're the worst and not relaxing at all!
You're so right that Canadian winters are not friendly to PUPs. I think mid-October is the absolute latest for using them here. Most of the Provincial Parks close after Thanksgiving here (which is in October here in Canada) anyways. Last operating day for the majority of parks this year is October 13. If we ever go in the winter we head to one of the winter sites that have yurt rentals. Those are awesome.
Question about gaps: what sort of repair kit to you recommend if the canvas (ours is an older model PUP so we have real canvas, not vinyl) tears?
