first YOU do NOT test an alternator into a battery...
you go into a carbon pile.... and a small battery to turn ON the alternator.
Makes sense Chuck. In my case I am more interested in what is actually making it into the battery and when it is no longer worth running the motor for charging. To this end I am thinking of adding an 80 amp inline meter I have in line with and just before the battery. Wwhat are ylour thoughts on this. It doesnt have to be that accurate, just give me a sense of whats happening. Thanks in advance.
If you are interested in seeing what going on at the trailer battery...then YES an inline AMP meter.. and be sure to use the correct gauge wire... and minimum number of connectors.
