Hi John,
I have dual paths measured with a Hall Effect meter that reads up to 70 amps. I do occasionally exceed the 70 amp figure, but only when I'm doing things such as running resistance heaters from the inverter.
I sometimes deliberately turn off one charging path to make it easier on the alternator. Other times I'll turn off the inverter to give the system a "rest" and time to allow the alternator to recharge the battery bank.
