Correct. If my rig was available I would take and post a picture but it is under cover about 250 miles north of me. It is simply mounted in the bottom compartment right above the gas controller and blows upward. I used the strapping material supplied with the fan as shown in the picture link you supplied in your OP. The thermostat button is mounted on the ammonia tube right at the bottom of the compartment and right behind the fan.
The fridge does not require a lot of air movement to keep it working well. Just enough to circulate and move fresh air into the compartment. Computer fans, as mentioned above would be a good solution also.
