I guess every state has different ways of shaking you down. Hard to escape it.
A few years ago Wa. ST had a major tax change by initiative. Used to be really bad. Now it's only the purchase sales tax that get you.
With questionable legality I've heard people on the West Coast register RV's in Montana. I say questionable if one actually owns property there. I've heard Pennsylvania is the place to avoid for high taxes. This is what made the 1/2 ton Dodge Megacab enviable. It was 1/2 ton truck with 3/4 frame and running gear.
