Vent fan opinions

OK, I have a Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8329SS, 35 ft, front bedroom. There are 4 roof vents, fairly equally spaced, with the bathroom vent being a fan (maxair, fantastic vent, etc.). I would like to add one more (fan), replacing one of the existing standard vents and I am just looking for opinions of which one would make the most sense. The front one is, as I said, the bedroom, the second in line is the bathroom (already has a fan), the third is over the kitchen and the fourth is over the rear living room area. Just looking for increased air flow so I was thinking that the fourth one might make the most sense, simply due to spacing. But I am not sure if spacing actually enters into it so I am looking for any opinions out there.

By the way the front one (bedroom) has the closest available power source with a light less than a foot away. The other two have lights that are closer to two feet away but I'm thinking that shouldn't be my only criteria.

Thoughts, gang?
  • We had 3 vent fans in our Rockwood 8315BSS Signature Ultra Lite 34 ft. travel trailer. I ordered one in the bedroom from the factory. Lots of people like us like the noise of a fan while we're sleeping. To bad we spent most of our time in the South where it was 100 plus degrees a lot of the time which was to hot for anything other than the A/C on high. I've seen the temperature at 98 degrees at midnight in Jackson, MS.

That's why we ordered our 3029W Windjammer with 50 Amp & 2nd A.C. prep ( $290 option MSRP) in the front bedroom. If we ever need a second A.C I can just drop one in.
Wife says she wants the sunlight to come in the bedroom. We'll see...
    Happy trails,
  • I installed two of the single speed Vortek fans, one in bath and one in living area. I then added PWM's and reversing switches on each. This was cheap and easy. I now have full control of speed and direction of both fans.
  • My 2 year old Kodiak came with the regular cheap feeble plastic vent lids; one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom. The first modification that I made was to replace these cheap vents entirely with Maxxaire vents. The reasons for my choice were as follows:
one had a remote control (put that in the bathroom)
they are quiet (no concern about noise in bedroom)
they can both be open in the heaviest rain or in transit with no water or dust getting into the trailer
They both push or pull air as is the best for the situation.
they sit nice and low to the roof of the trailer (rather than the covers designed to go over a regular vent.

Downside........only one. Cost! They were not cheap!
Would i do it again? You Betcha I would, its still the best mod I have done.
