How many more humans have to die in vehicle fires etc before the only one that can correct the vehicles they made steps up and fixes the problems they had made?
You probably won't find one who hates Chrysler more than me. And I'm on their side on this one. If these vehicles met the standards when they were made there is no reason to recall them today. Now if they don't they need to be recalled. It really is that simple.
Even the GM gas tanks were not that big of a deal. Yes, 2,000 people sounds like a lot but it was over 32 years or 62.5 a year. Sounds bad, right? But that is for all fire accidents regarding those trucks. Not all could have been a result of the gas tanks. That counts engine fires, rollovers or other accidents where fire would have happened no matter what. And I bet those trucks met the stnadards too.
You can't make everything 100% safe. Whenever you have an accident you can die. It's that simple. We have all these air bags and such and yes we are safer but I also never felt unsafe in seat belts in my 80s cars. I'd also not have an issue going back to plain old seat belts. Used properly they are still the best protection you have.
