Very major and costly recall for Chrysler pending

Once again, GM like Ford voluntarily recalled and fix the issues with out a fight. Did NOT say NO! Chrysler did say NO and is fighting the recall that has killed more than the 55 humans so far!

A ticking time bomb and you are driving it! That's simply Chrysler saying, screw you owners of the vehicles we designed and manufactured. Should you burn up, it's your problem as we won't help you prevent it's happening in the vehicle made and marketed by us, Chrysler Corp!

Comforting, isn't it?

I'm going to be honest, I have started losing faith in NHTSA. It seems to be very politically motivated. When American auto makers were struggling and Toyota was leading sales in the US, NHTSA claimed that Toyota's were unsafe and had Toyota recall millions of vehicles for "unintended acceleration". Study after study proved that their was not a single problem with the accelerator, every single case was either driver error (stomping on accelerator instead of brake pedal) or impropely placed floormat that impeded the brake pedal.

Now that the current administration is demanding that all federal vehicle's purchased be GM products they are suddenly attacking the "domestic" Chrysler that is owned by an Italian company.

It seems too convenient to discredit Chrysler now that it is owned by Fiat and now that GM and Ford are becoming more popular again in the US. Now that the Toyota fiasco has blown over and the truth has come out, it really makes me hesitant to believe that NHTSA is acting in the best interest of consumer.

Nut don't care for Chrysler. But even his beloved GM has there own GM fires cars.

This sorta smacks of Ford Pinto. The tank get's punctured in a bad rearender, and fireworks ensue. Interestingly they are saying 51 deaths have resulted from Jeep fires over 2.7 million vehicles that are recalled. The Pinto fires were blamed in at least 27 deaths out of 3.1 million Pinto's sold.

There are sound reasons why the company is taking this approach. Not going to debate you on this since I work there now and would like to continue to do so....

I don't have a sensitivity to the recall at all as I do not own a subject vehicle. It's simply been all over the news and Internet etc if you care to watch the news or read! My thread is for forum members and forum readers information only.

BTW, it's not one person's opinions, findings, or actions. These issues have been under investigation for years by many and due to the beating the rap of the previous recall incident back in the late 90's by Chrysler, the NHTSA has taken the time and built an extremely solid case with incredible documentation. Yes, it's the final resolution that matters and I agree. we'll see!

A member had posted that the problem was very old and had a 10 year old comment but kind of hard to call 2007 models old when it takes several years to even find and document the actual facts and when Chrysler has fought the NHTSA tooth and nail all the way.

As a Chrysler engineer, how could you not know that? My contacts at Chrysler, who will remain un-named, have known about it for several years now! It's not a secret to Chrysler management either. The recall fix cost is estimated to be in the billions and probably why Chrysler is trying to fight it as hard as they can. Just who do you think is responsible for the design and build of the subject vehicles anyway. Do you think the know safety etc problems will just fix themselves?

Chrysler said they wouldn't be recalling the vehicles-it wasn't needed. They told NHTSA to take them to court if they wanted the recall.
